Hi! My name is Brooke Bohannon, and I am a junior at North Forsyth High School. I have big dreams of becoming a teacher one day! My favorite subjects are math and science, as I've always had a natural talent for them. My love for working with children is what inspired me to pursue this role, and I am absolutely thrilled to be starting my first full year as a swim instructor—it's truly been a wonderful experience!I have been involved in cheerleading for as long as I can remember. I've always loved sideline cheer for football and competitive cheer at ATA. Although I decided to take a well-deserved break from competitive cheer at ATA this year, I still did cheer through the school.

Outside of school, I am very active at Browns Bridge Church, where I attend the high school service, InsideOut, and I also volunteer with the middle school service, Transit. Working with kids brings me so much joy, and I’m always eager to volunteer for anything that involves them! When I’m not at church or school, I love spending time with my friends and family, and nothing makes me happier than enjoying the sunshine at the beach or pool!

The importance of teaching water survival skills to children has always been very close to my heart. When I was six years old, I tragically lost my cousin to a drowning accident. That day was one of the hardest moments of my life, and it has fueled my passion to make a difference. When I found this job, I knew I had the chance to positively impact children’s lives and help keep them safe in the water. I truly believe that the work I do can save lives, and I am committed to ensuring that no family has to go through the pain my family did. I’m beyond excited to teach these kids, and I can’t wait to see the progress we’ll make together!

I am certified in CPR/AED/First Aid in adult and pediatrics through the American Heart Association.

My advice to parents is to keep your child in consistent lessons, as regular practice will help them gain more confidence in the water—ultimately achieving the goal of water safety and skill development!
